Public Safety: J Airasian, chair; E Izzo, vice-chair; V Piccirilli, secretary. Considers matters pertaining to Emergency Management, Police, Fire departments of the city, and the Traffic Commission.

Rules & Ordinances: J Gannon, chair; J Airasian, vice-chair; L Feltner, secretary. Considers the advisability and merit of proposed new ordinances or amendments to current ordinances, including the form and legality thereof, and all related legal matters, together with the City Attorney [KP Law]; and the Licensing Board.

Economic Development & Planning: Feltner, chair; J Gannon, vice-chair; V Piccirilli, secretary. Considers matters pertaining to planning, development, redevelopment, zoning, land use, transportation networks, marketing, promotion of current and prospective businesses in Watertown, and the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Historic District Commission, Community Preservation Committee, Public Arts & Culture Committee.

State, Federal, & Regional Government: N Gardner, chair; A Palomba, vice-chair; E Izzo, secretary. Considers matters involving the Election Commission and City Clerk, and to serve as a liaison between the city and federal government and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and its authorities, regional bodies, and political subdivisions.

Climate & Energy: A Palomba, chair; C Bays, vice-chair; J Airasian, secretary (created January 2022). Monitor and consider policy guidance on the implementation of Climate & Energy Plan (Note: also see “Resilient Watertown” online at https://resilient.watertown-ma.gov/home ), and matters pertaining to the Environment & Energy Efficiency Committee.

Public Works: V Piccirilli, chair; L Feltner, vice-chair; A Palomba, secretary. Considers matters pertaining to the Department of Public Works, and the Stormwater Advisory Committee, and the Solid Waste & Recycling Advisory Committee.

Budget & Fiscal Oversight: V Piccirilli, chair; E Izzo, vice-chair; N Gardner, secretary. Considers matters pertaining to the City Budget and any other fiscal matters referred to it by Council.

Human Services: A Palomba, chair; C Bays, vice-chair; J Gannon, secretary. Considers matters pertaining to Senior Services and the Council on Aging, Social Service programs, Veterans Services, Public Health, Affordable Housing, and the Board of Health, the Watertown Housing Authority, the Affordably Housing Trust, and the Human Rights Commission.

Education & School System Matters: E Izzo, chair; N Gardner, vice-chair; J Airasian, secretary. Considers matters involving the School Department and education generally, and pertaining to the Watertown Cable Access Corp Board.

Personnel & City Organization: C Bays, chair; J Gannon, vice-chair; N Gardner, secretary. Considers matters involving City personnel, including Civil Service, and proposals for organization or reorganization of the city’s departments and agencies, and the Board of Assessors.

Parks & Recreation: A Palomba, chair; L Feltner, vice-chair; C Bays, secretary. Consider matters pertaining to Parks, Recreation, the John A. Ryan Skating Arena, and the Conservation Commission (note: committee created March 2020).

Committee of the Whole: M Sideris, chair; V Piccirilli, vice-chair. Consists of all members of City Council with the President as Chair, to deal with all matters referred to it by City Council.
